In the demise of former speaker Daman Nath Dhungana- Government declared a public holiday
Former Speaker and a prominent civil society leader, at the age of 83, Daman nath Dhungana, passed away on Sunday afternoon while undergoing a treatment of liver-related ailment. According to the source of government spokesperson Prithivi Subba Gurung the parliamentary meeting decides to announce public holiday. Late, Dungana was also the senior successful advocate, became the General Secretary of the Nepal Bar Association. He was elected the House of Representative (HoR) member from the Kathmandu electoral constituency-2 during the 2048 BS (1992) general elections, representing the Nepali Congress. Dhungana had contributed significantly to the country democractic movement. He was jailed time and again by the Panchayati rulers during his political career.
