CGC News Reporter November 20, 2024

The Election Commission (EC) is set to publish the final list of candidates for the upcoming local level by-elections by 3 PM today. Following the publication of the list, the candidates will be assigned their respective election symbols by 5 PM, marking an important step in the electoral process.

In accordance with the by-election schedule, candidates had the option to withdraw their nominations earlier today, from 9 AM to 1 PM. This withdrawal period allows candidates to reconsider their decision to run in the election. Once the final list is published, those who have successfully met all the necessary requirements will proceed to the next phase of campaigning with their official election symbols.

The allocation of election symbols plays a crucial role in the election process, as it helps voters easily identify candidates and their respective parties on the ballot paper. This is especially important in local elections, where recognition and accessibility can have a significant impact on voter turnout and decision-making.

With the final list and symbols being finalized today, the stage is set for the next steps in the by-election process, as candidates prepare for the upcoming polls. The EC is ensuring that the election proceeds smoothly and transparently, providing all candidates with equal opportunities to campaign effectively.
