as tens of thousands of CPN-UML leaders and activists flood the streets for what the party is calling a “show of strength.” The mass gathering, aimed at raising awareness against what the party describes as rising “anarchy,” has caused severe traffic congestion in the city.

The protest, which began in earnest at 11:15 AM from Bhadrakali, has seen activists pour into the heart of the capital, effectively halting traffic in key areas. The party’s leadership has mobilized an estimated 100,000 people, as they march through various parts of Kathmandu to voice their concerns.

The gathering comes at a time when political tensions are high, and CPN-UML has been vocal in its opposition to what it terms the government’s failure to maintain order. The streets of Kathmandu, already notorious for heavy traffic, have become nearly impassable, with cars, buses, and pedestrians facing significant delays.

As the protests continue, authorities have warned of further disruptions throughout the day, urging commuters to avoid key areas like Durbarmarg, Ratna Park, and Bhadrakali. Public transportation has been severely affected, with many routes either rerouted or suspended altogether. Local businesses and schools in the vicinity are also experiencing disruptions.

While the CPN-UML claims that the demonstration is aimed at highlighting the erosion of law and order, critics argue that the large-scale gathering is adding to the ongoing challenges faced by the city. Negotiations between the protest organizers and local authorities are expected to continue as the demonstration unfolds.
