MoHP Increases Financial Support for Organ Donors and Supporting Hospitals
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has announced a significant increase in financial support for the families of individuals who donate their organs after death. Effective immediately, the MoHP will provide Rs 200,000 to the families of organ donors, doubling the previous amount of Rs 100,000 offered by the Human Organ Transplant Center in Bhaktapur. In addition to the increased support for donor families, the ministry has also raised the financial aid given to hospitals that facilitate organ donations. Hospitals will now receive Rs 75,000, up from the previous Rs 50,000. Health Minister Pradeep Paudel confirmed that the Ministry of Finance has approved the implementation of this decision, which will be managed through internal resources. The move is aimed at encouraging more individuals to consider organ donation and to support medical institutions involved in this critical process.
