Armed Police Sub-Inspector Killed in Smuggling Operation as Liquor-Laden Jeep Runs Him Over

Armed Police Force Sub-Inspector Laxman Yadav was tragically killed early Sunday morning while attempting to intercept a liquor-smuggling operation near the Nepal-India border. Acting on a tip-off, SI Yadav and a team of eight officers had set up an ambush to stop a Scorpio Jeep loaded with illegal liquor.

At around 2 AM, as the vehicle sped toward Jhalon, Yadav attempted to stop it but was struck and run over by the jeep, which then fled across the border. Severely injured, Yadav was rushed to Ram Kumar Sharda, Uma Prasad Murarka Provincial Hospital in Lahan, where he was declared dead. His wife, Sangita Devi, and two daughters, Sushmita and Sujata, are left to mourn his loss. The incident has caused deep grief within the local community, with residents expressing fear over the smugglers’ escape and potential hiding spots across the border.
