Chitwan Rhinos Secure Dominant 87-Run Win Over Pokhara in Nepal Premier League

Chitwan – Chitwan Rhinos clinched their second consecutive win in the Nepal Premier League with an emphatic 87-run victory over Pokhara on Tuesday.

Batting first after losing the toss, Chitwan posted a total of 161 runs, losing 7 wickets. Ravi Bopara led the charge with a half-century, scoring 50 runs from 38 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Kushal Malla contributed 38 runs from 23 balls, hitting 1 four and 4 sixes. Luke Benkenstein added 16 runs, while Hassan Isakhil made 14 runs. Sharad Vesawkar remained unbeaten on 11 runs.

In reply, Pokhara’s chase of 162 runs faltered dramatically, as they were bowled out for just 74 runs in 13.2 overs. Narayan Joshi, who came in at the lower order, was the top scorer for Pokhara with 30 runs from 24 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. Matt Critchley added 17 runs, but the rest of the batting line-up collapsed under pressure.

Chitwan’s bowlers dominated the innings, with Sohail Tanvir leading the way by taking 3 wickets for just 6 runs in 3 overs, including 1 maiden. Rijan Dhakal also claimed 3 wickets for 10 runs in 3 overs, while Luke Benkenstein took 3 wickets for 37 runs in 4 overs. Deepak Bohara chipped in with 1 wicket. Tanvir and Rijan’s early breakthroughs, with 6 wickets falling in the first 4 overs, sealed Pokhara’s fate, and despite a late effort from Matt and Narayan, they couldn’t recover.

Chitwan’s all-round performance secured a comfortable victory, as they continue their strong run in the league.
