China Grants Rs 9 Billion to Nepal for Development Projects
China has agreed to provide a grant worth Rs 9 billion (500 million Chinese Yuan) to Nepal to support various development initiatives, including infrastructure, trade, and economic cooperation. The agreement was made during the four-day visit of Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to China. Krishna Prasad Dhakal, spokesperson for Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that nine key agreements were signed, covering projects such as the Tokha-Chhahare Tunnel, bilateral trade promotion, and continued development of China-assisted projects. Other areas of cooperation include economic and technical assistance, the export of thermally processed buffalo meat, and cash support. The grant will fund projects that build on previous initiatives started in 2017, mainly focused on high hills and Himalayan regions in Nepal, and are set to be developed with Chinese assistance.
