Gautam Buddha International Airport Sees Over 150 International Flights and 5,000 Passengers in a Month
Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa, Nepal’s second international airport, has seen significant activity in the past month, with more than 150 international flights and around 5,000 passengers. From November 3 to December 3, the airport served 4,771 passengers, according to Pratap Babu Tiwari, the airport’s general manager. Fly Dubai operated the most flights during this period, while Jazeera Airways carried the highest number of passengers, serving 3,034 travelers. A total of 2,238 passengers flew abroad from Bhairahawa, and 2,533 passengers arrived at the airport. The airport also facilitated 5,467 transit passengers. Among other airlines, Thai AirAsia served 447 passengers, Qatar Airways 93, and Nepal Airlines 39. Tiwari noted that most travelers departing from the airport were heading abroad for work, particularly to Kuwait. Studies have indicated that budget airlines, like Jazeera and Fly Dubai, are transporting more passengers compared to full-service carriers.
