Paris has been crowned the most attractive city in the world for the fourth consecutive year, according to Euromonitor International’s 2024 Top 100 City Destinations Index. With more than 70 million visitors in 2024, the French capital continues to shine as a global tourism hub, bolstered by major events like the Olympics and the reopening of Notre Dame this weekend.

The index ranks cities based on tourism, sustainability, economic performance, and health and safety. Paris topped the list, followed by Madrid at No.2, and Tokyo at No.3. The report highlighted Paris’s strong tourism policy and exceptional infrastructure as key factors in maintaining its position as the top destination.

Europe dominates the top rankings with six cities in the top 10, including Rome and Milan at No.4 and No.5, and Amsterdam at No.7. Meanwhile, London, which previously ranked No.10, has slipped to No.13 due to shortcomings in tourism policy and sustainability.

In the Asia-Pacific region, Bangkok emerged as the leader for international arrivals, surpassing Istanbul, with 32.4 million international trips recorded this year. Other notable cities include New York No.6 and Sydney No.8. The rise of overtourism remains a challenge, prompting many cities to implement measures like tourism taxes and restrictions to better manage visitor numbers.
