Israel Bombs Over 350 Sites in Syria, Escalating Violence in Gaza and Regional Tensions
Israel conducted a series of airstrikes on more than 350 military sites in Syria over the past 48 hours, targeting what it described as “most of the strategic weapons stockpiles” in the country. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the strikes were necessary to prevent these weapons from being used against Israel following the collapse of the Syrian government. In addition to the airstrikes, Israel confirmed that its troops had entered a buffer zone within Syria, established after the 1973 Middle East war. However, Israel denied advancing toward the Syrian capital, Damascus. Meanwhile, in Gaza, Israeli airstrikes continued overnight, hitting a home in Beit Lahiya in the north, where displaced families were sheltering. At least 29 Palestinians were killed in these strikes, including a family of eight, as violence from the ongoing Israel-Hamas war rages on. The death toll also included victims from the Nuseirat refugee camp, where several members of a family were killed. Gaza hospitals, including Kamal Adwan and Awda, reported severe casualties and described a dire situation with patients trapped amid continuous bombardment. As the conflict in Gaza and Syria continues, the United States announced its recognition of a new Syrian government following the ousting of President Bashar Assad, marking a significant shift in the region’s power dynamics. However, the war in Gaza shows no sign of abating, with ceasefire talks failing to yield a lasting resolution.
