A Russian airstrike on Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region has killed 10 people and wounded at least 22, according to regional authorities. The attack, which took place on Tuesday, struck two buildings in central Zaporizhzhia, including a clinic and an office building. The death toll was updated after a woman’s body was discovered under the rubble, regional governor Ivan Fedorov confirmed on Thursday.

This assault is part of an escalating series of Russian attacks on southern Ukraine, raising concerns about a possible new Russian offensive in the region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the “brutal” attack and urged Western allies to provide more aerial defense systems to bolster Ukraine’s defenses.

The violence follows a similar attack last Friday, which also claimed 10 lives in Zaporizhzhia. Tensions have further risen after Moscow vowed retaliation against Ukraine for a missile strike on a Russian military airfield in Rostov. Additionally, US officials have warned that Russia may soon use its new hypersonic Oreshnik missiles to target Ukraine.
