Tikapur Airport in Kailali, which had been closed for regular flights since February 1997, officially resumed operations on Sunday. The first flight, Tara Air YT 1701, carrying 16 passengers, landed at 1:44 pm, marking a significant milestone for the region. The airport’s reopening was made possible through the combined efforts of Tikapur Municipality, Tara Air, and Yeti Airlines. Tikapur Airport initially began its operations on October 11, 1984, and after nearly three decades of closure, it is once again accessible for regular flights. The reopening is expected to boost connectivity and contribute to the development of the region by improving air travel options for local residents and visitors alike.
