Karnali Yaks Defeat Chitwan Rhinos by 21 Runs to Reach NPL Qualifier Two
Karnali Yaks have secured a spot in Qualifier Two of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) after defeating Chitwan Rhinos by 21 runs in the Eliminator match. Chasing a target of 176 runs, Chitwan could only manage to score 154 runs. Despite a valiant half-century from Ravi Bopara, who scored 53 runs off 34 balls, it wasn’t enough to secure the win for Chitwan. Bopara’s effort included 3 fours and 4 sixes. There was no significant contribution from other Chitwan batsmen, and the team failed to close the gap. Zeeshan Maksud was the standout bowler for Karnali, claiming 3 wickets, while Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav each took 2 wickets. Bipin Prasad Sharma also contributed with a wicket. In the bowling department for Chitwan, Sohail Tanvir took 2 wickets, while Ravi Bopara and captain Kushal Malla each took 1 wicket. Karnali Yaks will now face the winner of Qualifier One in the next round as they continue their pursuit of the NPL title.
Earlier, Karnali Yaks, who batted first after losing the toss, posted a total of 175 runs, losing 6 wickets. Jaykisan Colesawala and William Bosisto played stellar knocks, each scoring half-centuries. Colesawala, in his first NPL match, top-scored with 53 runs from 39 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes. Bosisto followed closely, scoring 52 runs from 39 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Chadwick Walton remained unbeaten on 46 runs from 23 balls, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes. Zeeshan Maksud contributed a useful 14 runs, while openers Rit Gautam and Gulshan Jha failed to score.
