The Academy of Arts and Sciences has announced the Oscar Awards shortlist nominations across 10 categories. This year’s highly anticipated film “Emilia Perez” leads the nominations, securing six in total, including for Costume Design, Sound, Original Score, International Feature, and two songs (El Mal and Mi Camino).

Universal’s musical film “Wicked” has been nominated in four categories, while other categories like Short Film, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short, International Feature, Live Action Short, Makeup, and Hair Styling also made the shortlist.

Voting will now begin for the shortlisted films, with the final nominations (Top 5) to be announced on January 17. The Oscar ceremony will take place on March 2, hosted by Conan O’Brien.

Unfortunately, the Nepali film “Shambhala”, directed by Min Bahadur Bham, has been eliminated from the International Feature race. The film was one of 85 competing in the category. This year, Asia faced a setback, with only the Thai film “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies” making the cut.
