Former Indian Prime Minister Man mohan Singh, widely regarded as the architect of India’s economic reforms and the landmark nuclear deal with the United States, has passed away at the age of 92.

Singh, who was hospitalized on Thursday night after experiencing a sudden loss of consciousness at his residence, was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. Despite efforts to revive him, he was declared dead at 9:51 p.m.

Singh had been battling age-related health issues in recent months. Known for his mild-mannered approach and personal integrity, he served as prime minister for a decade, becoming one of India’s longest-serving leaders. His tenure from 2004 to 2014 saw significant economic progress, although it was also marred by corruption allegations involving some of his ministers. Despite these controversies, Singh remained a respected figure in Indian politics, particularly for his role in shaping India’s modern economic landscape.
