‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Shatters Records, Tops Global Charts

The highly anticipated second season of Netflix’s Squid Game is now streaming, and it has already captured the attention of viewers worldwide, including in Nepal. While Netflix has not officially released viewership data, international media reports indicate that the series has become one of the most-watched globally since its premiere on December 26.

Within just 24 hours of its release, Squid Game Season 2 claimed the top spot as the most-watched show in 92 countries. Among the countries where it has dominated the charts are the United States, India, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Australia, Thailand, Brazil, France, Mexico, South Africa, and Argentina. In New Zealand, it holds the second position.

The South Korean series continues to captivate audiences with its intense storyline and high-stakes drama. It has received critical acclaim, with an 8/10 rating on IMDb and a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The second season picks up three years after the events of the first, following the story of Seong Gi-hun, who returns to the deadly game. While Gi-hun initially participated in the game to win money and escape debt, in the second season, he is now focused on stopping the deadly competition.

For fans of the first season, the second season promises to be even more thrilling. With 456 players once again involved in the high-stakes game, the tension is palpable. The second season consists of a total of seven episodes, each packed with suspense and action.

In addition to the success of the second season, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed that preparations for a third season are already underway. In an interview with Variety magazine, Hwang revealed that the third season could potentially be released next summer.
