Two Passengers Fined Rs 100,000 for Opening Emergency Exit on Buddha Air Flights
Two passengers who opened the emergency exit doors of separate Buddha Air flights have been fined Rs 100,000 each, the airline confirmed in a press release. The fines, totaling Rs 200,000, have been donated to charitable causes, including the Mahaganga Aarti–Ganga Sagar in Janakpurdham and an old-age home in Pokhara. The first incident occurred on January 1, when a passenger unnecessarily opened the emergency exit door during preparations for Flight 618, which was set to fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu. The move triggered an inspection by the airline’s technical team, leading to a three-hour delay before the flight departed at 6:40 PM. Buddha Air emphasized the importance of safety procedures and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining operational integrity. The fines collected from the passengers were donated to support the local communities in Nepal.
