Pakistan’s jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan revealed on Friday that he was offered the opportunity to go into exile for three years, but he refused, asserting his commitment to live and die in Pakistan. Khan, who has been incarcerated in Attock Jail since August 2023, took to social media platform X to share the details of the offer.

In his post, the 72-year-old former cricketer-turned-politician stated, “I was offered the opportunity of a three-year exile while I was in Attock jail, but I will live and die in Pakistan.” He also disclosed that he had been “indirectly approached” with an offer to be transferred to his Bani Gala residence in Islamabad, but once again declined the proposition.

Khan emphasized his conditions for any future discussions, stating, “My stance is clear: release my detained workers and leaders first. Only then will I consider discussing my personal situation.” He stressed that the decisions regarding Pakistan’s future should be made within the country, further affirming his dedication to his political cause despite the charges he faces.

While Khan was granted bail in a graft case on Friday, he will remain behind bars on other ongoing charges. His legal battles continue, but his resolve to stay in Pakistan has only strengthened.
