The U.S. State Department has notified Congress of a proposed $8 billion arms sale to Israel, as the country continues its military operations against Hamas in Gaza. The package includes a variety of advanced weapons, such as medium-range air-to-air missiles, 155 mm artillery shells, Hellfire AGM-114 missiles, and 500-pound bombs, aimed at enhancing Israel’s defense capabilities against aerial and ground threats. While some of the weapons may be drawn from current U.S. stockpiles, the majority could take several years for delivery, according to U.S. officials who spoke on condition of anonymity. This move underscores the continued strong support from the United States for its ally during the ongoing conflict.
