President Ramchandra Paudel Highlights Prithvi Narayan Shah’s Legacy on National Unity Day
On the occasion of National Unity Day, President Ramchandra Paudel emphasized the enduring significance of Prithvi Narayan Shah’s “Divyopadesh” (precepts) in guiding Nepal’s economic development, patriotism, and diplomatic relations. In his message, President Paudel underscored the critical role of Prithvi Narayan Shah in uniting the smaller principalities of Nepal, laying the foundation for the modern nation. He stressed that the contributions of Nepal’s forefathers, who continued this unification effort across different periods of history, should not be forgotten. The President also reminded citizens of Nepal’s evolution into a federal democratic republic, declaring it an independent, indivisible, sovereign, secular, inclusive, and democratic state. As Nepal commemorates the 303rd birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah, President Paudel called for reflection on his teachings, urging the nation to work towards prosperity and happiness while safeguarding the country’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity.
“Prithvi Narayan Shah created the nation of modern Nepal by uniting the smaller principalities,” the President stated, adding that this unification campaign, continued by subsequent generations, has made Nepal a proud, sovereign, and independent nation today.
