Private sector industry and business organizations, including the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), have expressed strong support for the recent ordinances issued by the government, stating that these will significantly improve the investment and business climate in Nepal. During a meeting with Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli at his official residence in Baluwatar today, leaders from major business associations thanked the government for these initiatives.

FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Nepal Chamber of Commerce President Kamalesh Agrawal, and Federation of Nepalese Industry and Entrepreneurs (FENIE) President Bhagirath Sapkota commended the government for prioritizing investment and business reforms. They emphasized the importance of timely regulations and work procedures to implement the ordinances effectively, particularly in the context of Nepal’s post-COVID-19 economic recovery.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and other ministers were present at the meeting. The business leaders noted that these ordinances would inject new life into the private sector, fostering a more investment-friendly environment and contributing to the nation’s goal of a ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.’

On January 13, the President issued four ordinances recommended by the government, with another related to land management expected soon. Prime Minister Oli welcomed the business community’s positive reception to these measures, stressing that despite rumors of instability, the ruling coalition was committed to effective governance and national development.

The Prime Minister reiterated that Nepal’s prosperity could only be achieved through practical policies that promote good governance and sustainable development.
