President Donald Trump suggested on Saturday that countries like Jordan and Egypt should accept more Palestinian refugees from the Gaza Strip in order to “clean out” the area and create a fresh start. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said this could help resolve the situation in Gaza, which has been devastated by ongoing conflict.

Trump also announced that he had lifted restrictions placed by former President Joe Biden on sending large bombs to Israel. These bombs, which had been withheld to reduce civilian casualties, were delivered to Israel after Trump decided to release them. He explained that Israel had been waiting for them and had purchased them.

Trump’s comments on Gaza followed calls with King Abdullah II of Jordan and plans to speak with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi. He expressed a desire for Egypt to take in refugees, suggesting that moving around 1.5 million people could help resolve the ongoing crisis.
