Trump Takes Action to Limit Abortion Access in U.S. and Abroad

CGC News Reporter January 26, 2025

President Donald Trump moved to limit abortion access on Friday, reversing protections put in place by President Joe Biden. Trump revoked two executive orders from Biden that aimed to protect abortion rights, including access to abortion pills and the ability for women to travel to states where abortion is legal.

Trump, who has strong support from anti-abortion groups, also reinstated the “Mexico City Policy,” which cuts U.S. funding to foreign organizations that provide abortion services or advocacy. This policy, first introduced by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, has been used by Republican presidents and rescinded by Democratic ones.
