Rabi Lamichhane, the former Home Minister and President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has been released from custody after paying a Rs 10 million bail in the Butwal Supreme Cooperative fraud case. The Rupandehi District Court set his next hearing for March 10.

Lamichhane, who is facing multiple charges of cooperative fraud, had already paid a total of Rs 22.5 million in bail across three districts. This is the highest bail amount set for him so far. The court has allowed him to pay the bail through a bank guarantee from Prabhu Bank.

The case involves allegations of embezzling funds from the Supreme Savings and Credit Cooperative Society in Butwal. The court hearing for this case has been taking place behind closed doors, with arguments from both the prosecution and defense.

Lamichhane faces other cases in Chitwan and Parsa districts, with investigations continuing. He has already been charged in Kathmandu and Kaski for similar crimes, including embezzling millions of rupees from various cooperative societies.
