The UK will soon make it illegal to create, possess, or share AI tools designed to generate sexual images of children. Those caught breaking the law could face up to five years in prison. The government will also make it illegal to own AI “paedophile manuals” that teach how to use AI for child abuse, with a penalty of up to three years in prison. Interior Minister Yvette Cooper said this move is aimed at protecting children online as technology evolves. She emphasized that the new laws are necessary to stop online abuse before it leads to real-life harm.
