Juliette Binoche has been chosen to be the president of the jury at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, festival organizers announced. She will follow Greta Gerwig, who led the jury last year. This marks the second year in a row that the jury will be led by a woman.

Binoche, a famous French actress, has a long history with the Cannes Film Festival. She first appeared there 40 years ago with the film Rendez-vous by director André Téchiné. Since then, she has returned many times with films like Blue, Caché, and Certified Copy.

In a statement, Binoche expressed her excitement and honor at being named jury president, saying, “I appreciate the privilege, the responsibility and the absolute need for humility.”

The Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 13 to 24, with the official lineup being revealed in April. Last year, the jury, led by Gerwig, awarded the top prize, the Palme d’Or, to Anora by Sean Baker.
