CGC News Reporter February 5, 2025

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with President Donald Trump on Tuesday to talk about the future of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The meeting comes as both sides have agreed to discuss the next steps in their fragile ceasefire, which aims to end the ongoing war in Gaza.

Netanyahu will be the first foreign leader to visit the White House since Trump returned to power. During the visit, they will discuss efforts to maintain the ceasefire and move toward peace. Israel will also send a team to Doha, Qatar, later this week to discuss the technical details of continuing the ceasefire agreement. Hamas has expressed willingness to negotiate the second stage of the ceasefire, which aims to free more hostages and work toward ending the conflict.

The war began after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023. The situation in Gaza remains dire, with many people suffering from the ongoing conflict.
