US President Donald Trump announced that he will impose a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports this week. The tariffs, which he plans to announce on Monday, will affect all steel coming into the United States, including aluminum. This move follows similar tariffs Trump imposed during his previous presidency to protect US industries from what he considered unfair competition from countries in Asia and Europe. Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and South Korea are among the biggest sources of steel and aluminum imports to the US. Trump also mentioned plans to introduce “reciprocal tariffs,” matching tariffs other countries charge on US products. He is expected to provide more details on these tariffs later this week.
