The FBI has announced that it discovered thousands of new documents pertaining to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. This followed a search to act in accordance with an executive order by former President Donald Trump. The FBI found approximately 2,400 documents that were not previously known to be included in the JFK case file.

These new documents uncovered will be moved to the National Archives for additional review under the declassification process now in progress. This comes after Trump ordered the declassification of all the remaining documents pertaining to JFK’s assassination as well as documents regarding the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.

The JFK assassination in 1963 has been the focus of conspiracy theories for years, and Americans continue to be doubtful of the official story. In a 2023 Gallup poll, 65% of individuals did not accept the conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. Prior administrations have released numerous documents, but others continue to be withheld.

Trump also vowed to make all the documents public, but only a part of them was released. The Biden administration also made thousands of documents public, but a few records remain confidential.
