Five Dead in Suicide Bombing Near Bank in Northern Afghanistan
Five individuals, including Taliban security personnel, were killed by a suicide bomber in an explosion near a bank in northern Afghanistan on Tuesday. Police spokesman Jumadin Khaksar said the bomber had utilized homemade bombs in the bombing. Government employees, civilians, and Taliban security personnel were among those killed. The Kunduz Province Police Command is probing the attack and trying to determine who perpetrated the bombing. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing. Bombings and suicide bombings have been on the decline in Afghanistan since the Taliban returned to power in 2021, but terrorist groups such as ISIS still remain a threat. The bombing comes after a similar March bombing last year near a bank in Kandahar was claimed by ISIS.
