Delta Air Lines Plane Flips on Landing in Toronto, 17 Injured
At least 17 people were injured after a Delta Air Lines plane rolled over while landing in snowy conditions at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday. The flight to Minneapolis-St. Paul was carrying 80 people, including 76 passengers and four crew members. 22 of the passengers were Canadian, and the remaining passengers were from other countries. Emergency personnel moved quickly to evacuate the passengers and take 17 to area hospitals. Three people, one of them a child, were initially reported in critical condition, but the child is now stable. The critically injured adults were airlifted to the hospital. The Canada Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident, with the help of U.S. authorities. Two runways at the airport will be closed on Tuesday during the investigation, which could cause potential delays to passengers. Delta cancelled all its other flights in Pearson for the day. The accident happened around 1:15 p.m. CST, when snow, low visibility, and high winds were factors in making it difficult to land.
