U.S. Deports Eight Nepali Citizens under Trump’s Immigration Policy
The United States of America (USA) has deported Nepali citizens who were residing in America illegally. The USA has brought eight Nepalis living in the US without official documents to Kathmandu and released them. The chartered flight carrying the Nepalis landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 10 am. The flight arrived in Kathmandu from Portsmouth International Airport in New Hampshire, US. As per US President Trump’s policy of deporting illegal immigrants, these individuals were sent back to Nepal. Prior to this, 27 Nepalis had returned to Kathmandu. However, this is the first incident where the American government has brought them directly to Nepal and released them. The eight (seven male and one female) deported Nepalis have been handed over to Nepal Police’s Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau on suspicion that they may have been victims of human trafficking. Authorities will interrogate them before handing them over to their families, according to immigration officials. Additionally, another Nepali national was deported via a regular Qatar Airways flight and arrived in Kathmandu this morning, confirmed Immigration Officer Yagya Raj Aryal. Prior to this, 27 Nepali nationals had already been deported from the US. “We completed the immigration process and handed them over to the authorities,” Aryal told RSS, referring to the eight individuals who arrived on the chartered flight.
