The Press Council Nepal (PCN) has taken decisive action against nine YouTube channels accused of spreading inaccurate and fabricated content that promotes anarchy. Among these, three unregistered channels have been flagged for further investigation by the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the PCN outlined its concerns regarding the growing prevalence of misleading and one-sided content across social media platforms, particularly YouTube. The Council has called for the immediate removal or suspension of such content, urging platform providers to ensure that only verified and credible information is disseminated.

The statement emphasized that the integrity of journalism is paramount, and the spread of false or biased information undermines its effectiveness. “Only the dissemination of authentic and reliable information can strengthen journalism and make it meaningful,” the PCN said in its release.

This move highlights the growing importance of regulating digital content in Nepal, as the influence of social media continues to expand. The PCN’s actions aim to safeguard the public from the harmful effects of misinformation and ensure that online platforms uphold journalistic standards.
