Flooding in Malaysia’s northern Borneo states of Sarawak and Sabah worsened on Sunday, displacing more than 13,000 people.

In Sarawak, 11,840 people were staying in 63 flood relief centers, while Sabah had 1,453 evacuees. Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof urged people to register for aid, saying that the flooding, especially in Bintulu district, is difficult to manage due to limited resources.

The meteorological department has warned of heavy rain continuing until at least February 4, with several districts in Sarawak expected to be affected.
