Nepal’s recent tourism spending trend has raised concerns, as the latest data from the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) shows that Nepali nationals are spending significantly more abroad than foreign tourists are spending within the country. According to the NRB’s report for the last three months, Nepali citizens spent an additional 6 billion rupees (6 Arba) abroad compared to the total expenditure of international tourists in Nepal. This growing imbalance highlights a pressing issue for the country’s tourism economy, as it struggles to retainspending within its borders, while Nepali travelers flock overseas.
