US President Donald Trump has proposed a controversial plan to take control of Gaza and turn it into a thriving area with jobs and housing. Speaking after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said the US would lead an economic redevelopment project, clearing destroyed buildings and removing dangerous weapons in Gaza.

Trump suggested that Palestinians would be resettled elsewhere, with the US taking a long-term role in developing Gaza, which he called the “Riviera of the Middle East.” He expressed hope that displaced Palestinians would move to other countries, while also envisioning Gaza becoming a place for people from all over the world to live. Trump said the potential of Gaza was “unbelievable” and that the entire world would benefit from its redevelopment.
