Nepali Girl’s Father Demands Justice after Suicide at KIIT University
The father of Prakriti Lamsal, a Nepali student who died by suicide at KIIT University in Odisha, has demanded justice, claiming his daughter was harassed and emotionally blackmailed. Sunil Lamsal stated that an investigation is underway and the post-mortem report will be released soon. He mentioned that Prakriti’s phone, laptop, and diary have been sent for forensic analysis. One person has already been detained in connection with the incident, and her family members believe that this person is responsible for her death. KIIT University has taken steps by setting up a helpline and control room for supporting Nepali students. The university has confirmed that they are worried about their safety and welfare. The Nepalese Foreign Minister, Arzu Rana Deuba, has also had a word with the Indian Ambassador to Nepal regarding the matter. The Nepalese government has taken diplomatic efforts to ensure that Nepali students at KIIT University are safe. In a recent turn of events, KIIT University announced that over 700 Nepali students would be allowed to resume their classes and go back to their hostels.
