Zelenskyy Willing to Step Down for Peace or Ukraine in NATO
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on Sunday, stated that he would step down as president for peace in Ukraine or for the admission of Ukraine into the NATO alliance. During the “Ukraine. Year 2025” conference in Kyiv, Zelenskyy offered to step down as president if it would grant peace or have Ukraine admitted to NATO. His statement came after US President Donald Trump criticized him and made a false claim that Zelenskyy had a low approval level. Zelenskyy’s statement followed the largest Russian drone attack on Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov threatened that Ukraine’s membership in NATO would consciously endanger Russia’s sovereignty. Nevertheless, Zelenskyy promised that Ukraine’s membership in NATO remains an option.
