Ukraine Looks for Alternatives to Starlink after US Warning of Disconnection

On Sunday, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov made public that Ukraine is looking for alternatives to the Starlink satellite communications network for military use. This comes after reports that the United States threatens to disconnect Ukraine from the Starlink service if Kyiv does not agree to sign an agreement surrendering Ukraine’s strategic resources to the control of Washington.

Umerov reported that Ukraine had already started working on the solution, and solutions existed. The deal was criticized by Ukraine as not securing their interest or promising sufficient security assurances.

Starlink owner Elon Musk denied the reports calling them “false” and excluded any risk of switching off the access to Ukraine from the network.
