Melamchi Water Pipeline Bursts Floods Thapathali Area, Diverts Traffic
A Melamchi Drinking Water pipeline burst at Thapathali in the Kathmandu Valley once again early morning in Tuesday inundated the area from Thapathali Chowk to Norvic Hospital and caused traffic cut-off. It has been weeks since a similar pipeline burst pipe at Babarmahal and closed down public offices as well as damaged the roads. Ashok Kumar Paudel, Chief Executive Director of Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Ltd (KUKL), informed that efforts were being made to repair the burst pipeline and resume water supply. He also assured that the issue would be addressed at the earliest. The burst pipeline had caused waterlogging in buildings and shops in the affected area. KUKL will form a committee to look into the cause of the Thapathali pipeline burst. The previous burst took place at Babarmahal during the process of excavating for underground electric cable construction.
