Pokhara Avengers Set for Nepal Premier League with Star-Studded Squad
The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) is gearing up for the highly anticipated Nepal Premier League (NPL), which will take place from December 1 to 20 at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. The tournament will feature eight teams, with Pokhara Avengers representing Gandaki Province. Pokhara Avengers have already announced their squad, with national team opener Kushal Bhurtel as their marquee player. The team will also feature national team left-arm spinner Sagar Dhakal and former national team player Dilip Nath, who had represented Nepal a few years ago. The team’s coach is Rajeev Kumar, the fielding coach for the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings, while the mentor is South African cricket legend Jonty Rhodes, often referred to as the “King of Fielding.” For the NPL, each team is required to sign at least four players, with the option to sign up to six foreign players based on availability. Pokhara has already secured five foreign players for their squad. These include three Associate players: Bas De Leede, a top all-rounder from the Netherlands, Scottish hard-hitting batter Michael Leask, and explosive American batter Andres Gous. Additionally, from England, Matt Critchley, and from the West Indies, Raymond Reifer, have also joined Pokhara’s roster. With a blend of local and international talent, Pokhara Avengers are poised to make a strong showing in the upcoming NPL.
