Election Commission of Nepal to Impose Rs 25,000 Fine for Unauthorized Vehicle Use on Voting Day
The Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) has announced that a fine of Rs 25,000 will be imposed on vehicles found operating without permission on the day of voting, December 1. According to Section 25(1) of the Election (Offenses and Punishments) Act, 2073BS, political parties, candidates, election representatives, or any other individual are prohibited from using or permitting the use of more vehicles than authorized by the Commission. Additionally, vehicles can only be used during the election campaign with the explicit permission of the ECN or the election officer. This regulation is part of the ECN’s efforts to maintain order and prevent unfair campaigning practices on the day of voting. The fine aims to deter any violations and ensure that the election process remains transparent and free from undue influence.
