Birgunj Customs has emerged as the top contributor to Nepal’s export growth, reporting exports worth Rs. 12.12 billion in the first four months of the fiscal year 2024/2025.

According to the Department of Customs, the total export value for the country during this period reached Rs. 52.6 billion. The increase in exports through Birgunj has been attributed to the presence of the Integrated Check Post and dry port, which has made the customs office more efficient in handling goods compared to the other 26 customs offices across the nation. Products such as synthetic yarn, soybean oil, mustard cake, and woolen carpets were among the key exports processed through Birgunj.
