Popular K-pop band member and DJ, A-Sung, has been sentenced to eight years in prison following a tragic car accident that resulted in the death of a 50-year-old delivery man. The South Korean Supreme Court issued the sentence on December 10, after A-Sung was found guilty of striking the man with her Mercedes-Benz SUV.

A-Sung, who also goes by the stage name Yesong, initially received a 10-year sentence for fleeing the scene of the accident without providing assistance to the victim. However, the sentence was reduced after she expressed deep remorse and personally visited the victim’s family. The prosecution had originally called for a 15-year prison term.

In her testimony, A-Sung admitted to driving under the influence of excessive substances at the time of the accident. She also revealed that she had been facing significant financial stress due to a lack of bookings. “I was at an important meeting, struggling to make a living,” she said, explaining her situation during the trial.

The case has shocked the K-pop community, highlighting the serious consequences of driving under the influence and the tragic loss of life that can result from such actions.
